NCHU Graduate Student Scholarship
For students from partner universities

1. Objective
NCHU Graduate Student Scholarship Program is designed to encourage promising students from partner universities to pursue their graduate study in the fields of Agriculture, Life Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Pure Sciences, Humanity, and Social Sciences and Management at National Chung Hsing University.

2. Eligible Students
(1) Foreign students who must not be overseas Chinese students nor concurrently have a Republic of China (Taiwan) nationality.
(2) Foreign students who are applying for admission into NCHU.
(3) Foreign students with outstanding academic records and must be physically and mentally sound.
(4) Foreign students who have already received Taiwan Scholarship will be asked to relinquish their NCHU scholarship. For information about Taiwan Scholarship, please check http://english.moe.gov. tw/ct.asp?xltem=551&CtNode=416&mp=1

3. Scholarship
(1) Scholarship recipients who are master degree seeking students will be exempted from tuition fees for 2 years. Scholarship recipients who are Ph.D. degree seeking students will be exempted from tuition fees for 3 years.
(2) We will also provide the scholarship recipient with partial financial aid for accommodation in the dormitory during the first year when they come to NCHU.
(3) During the first year, each scholarship recipient will receive a monthly stipend of NT$8,000, for the whole academic year unless he/she leaves school. From the second year onwards, we provide several kinds of assistantship or scholarship programs for the foreign student to apply for.

4. Application Deadline
Applications for the scholarship must be submitted by 31 March. The same deadline also applies for admissions.

5. Documents to be submitted
The applicant needs only to check the choice that he or she wishes to apply for the scholarship when applying for admission, and the University will consider his or her choice on the basis of the applicant's submitted data. Therefore, the applicant has to complete one set of application documents for admission and scholarship as follows.
a. A completed application form with photo attached.
(please check the item "scholarship from NCHU' when you see the question "How do you plan to finance your education at the University?" on the form.)
b. A photocopy of diploma from the highest educational institution completed (translated into Chinese or English). The diploma shall be certified according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Education governing authentication of overseas academic degrees.
c. Official transcript of academic records (translated into Chinese or English) with grade point average (preferable on a 0-4 scale) from each institution attended (high school for those seeking undergraduate admission; university/college for those applying to MS or PhD programs).
d. Two letters of recommendation.
e. A study plan, written in Chinese or English.
f. Autobiography within 300-500 words, written in Chinese or English.
g. Proof of financial sufficiency.
h. Telephone interview agreement.
For documents listed in items 2 and 3 above, the copy of the documents and their Chinese or English translation shall be certified by ROC's embassies, consulates or representative offices abroad. Alternatively, the exact copy or translation may be notarized by a local notary public authorized by ROC's embassies, consulates or representative offices. In this later case, a copy of the certificate granting this authorization should accompany the documents.
