SCIENTIFIC SCHOOL OF COORDINATION CHEMISTRY

The scientific school was created at the inorganic chemistry chair by professor A.M.Golub at the beginning of sixties. Nowadays the scientific school is headed by professor V.V.Skopenko.
The first period of the school functioning was devoted to the systematic study of coordination compounds containing pseudohalides ligands. It was logically concluded with the monograph "Chemistry of Pseudohalides" (1986). The investigation in the field of coordination chemistry of pseudohalides ligands was awarded the Ukraine State Prize in the field of science and technique in 1990.
The second period of the school development (the beginning of seventies) may be characterised by the finding of new scientific routes. Thus, the elucidation of the biochemical role of aminoacids and biological functions of metals in living beings gave the way to the investigations in the field of bioinorganic chemistry of amide, hydrazide and oxime derivatives of aminoacids.
In the field of surface coordination chemistry the investigations of complex formation on the surface of modified inorganic polymers and synthesis of complexes with N-, O-, S-, P-containing organic and inorganic ligands immobilized on silicon oxide surface are in progress (2 monographs were published).
The study of the reactions of the complex formation of metal powders, metal oxides and metal sulphides has created new scientific route - direct synthesis of coordination compounds (2 monographs were published, the Ukraine State Prize in the field of science and technique in 1995 was received).
During the period of the school functioning there were published the following
