For: students to pursue graduate studies or research (start date September 1)
Program Length: 1 or 2 years Application Deadline: May 16, 2004 Program Manager: Inna Barysh, student@fulbright.com.ua Program Opportunities: study grants to complete a 1-year (non-degree) program at an American university; study grants to complete a 2-year master's degree program at an American university. Program Description This program gives an opportunity for graduate students to combine study and independent research in different ways: research outside a degree program allows a student to specialize in a particular area; to re-qualify in a different area or to broaden an academic perspective; to get a Master degree; to prepare for Ph.D. program qualifying exams; to practice teaching through an assistantship in a university. Eligibility & Requirements Ukrainian citizenship. A higher education degree (Master degree or certificate of specialization) or Bachelor degree at time of award (4th and 5th year students are eligible) High proficiency in written and oral English. Able to receive a U.S. J-1 visa which requires returning to Ukraine for 2 years following program completion. Applicants under age 35 are preferred. Priority Areas for 2004-2005 (Humanities and Social Sciences): American Studies (literature, art, history) Anthropology Archeology Architecture Arts Criticism or Management of Cultural and Theater Studies Economics Education Administration Folklore Gender Studies History International Relations Journalism Law Library Sciences Literature Philosophy Political Science Protection of Historical Relics Psychology Religious Studies Sociology Social Work Theatre Arts How to Apply: By May 16, 2004 submit document packet: completed application form, 4 letters of recommendation, a copy of education diploma, class transcript and grades (for 4th and 5th year students copy of class records). All documents must be in English. Applications can be requested by e-mail from student@fulbright.com.ua.
