Admission Policy

Education

The academic year at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (NUK) starts in September and ends in June (01.09-30.06). Bachelor's degree takes 4 academic years to complete; Specialist's degree takes 5 academic years to complete; Master's degree takes 2 academic years to complete; Doctor's degree takes 3 academic years to complete. The applicants are enrolled according to the results of an interview.

Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv provides training for foreigners in Ukrainian, Russian or English languages (at student's option).

Letter of Invitation

In order to receive official invitation letter to study at the University, an applicant should provide the following information: first name and surname, date of birth, passport number, address of residence, and place of submission of visa application (country and city with the Embassy or General Consulate of Ukraine) and send scan copy of the following documents for assessment by e-mail: admission@univ.kiev.ua

  • a copy of a certificate of completed secondary education, translated into either Ukrainian, Russian, or English;
  • a photocopy of the first two pages of your International passport (with photo), translated into Ukrainian, Russian, or English.

If you are eligible, official invitation letter will be issued. With it prospective students can apply for entrance visas at the Ukrainian Embassies and General Consulates.

You should inform Department for Foreign Students of the University when you receive an Invitation for Study by e-mail: admission@univ.kiev.ua.

Interview

Foreign citizens are admitted to the first year of NUK by the Admissions Committee from July, 2 to August, 20. His/her papers having been checked, the Admissions Committee makes a decision to allow the foreigner to take interview in Ukrainian, Russian or English language. The knowledge is graded as “sufficient” or “insufficient”.

In accordance with the results of the interview (provided the entrant’s level of knowledge is graded as “sufficient”) and on the basis of a decision of the Admissions Committee the entrant sets up a contract with the University for training. The student having paid his/her tuition fee, an order about the student’s enrollment to the University is issued.

Concluding the agreement

To conclude the agreement to study at KNU you should submit to the department of international studies of the University the following documents:

4.2 Накази про зарахування до складу студентів іноземців та осіб без громадянства, які вступають на навчання на факультети та в інститути Університету за освітньо-кваліфікаційними рівнями «спеціаліст», «магістр», готуються відповідними факультетами та інститутами.

4.3. Після зарахування на навчання за освітньо-кваліфікаційними рівнями «спеціаліст», «магістр», іноземці повинні з’явитися до Відділу по роботі з іноземними студентами, аспірантами та стажистами (м. Київ, вул. Васильківська, 36, каб. 71, тел.: (+38 044) 521-35-68, 521-33-01) для:

  1. Filled application form;
  2. High School Certificate/Diploma with Transcript (marks, grades in subjects), and Certified and legalized Copy of High School Certificate/Diploma with Transcript translated in Ukrainian, Russian or English, if the originals are issued in a language other than Ukrainian, Russian or English;
  3. Passport with Visa and Copy of Passport;
  4. Copy of Birth Certificate legalized and certified (Apostille) in accordance with the legislation of the country it was issued in Ukrainian, Russian, or English if the original Certificate is issued in the language other than Ukrainian, Russian, or English;
  5. Medical Health Certificate certified by Health Board Official in the country of residence. This certificate has to be issued not later than two months prior to your arrival to Ukraine; Copy of Medical Health Certificate legalized and certified (Apostille) in accordance with the legislation of the country it was issued in;
  6. The AIDS test result confirming that you haven’t got AIDS issued not later than two months prior to your arrival to Ukraine, translated into Ukrainian, Russian or English, if the original is issued in a language other than Ukrainian, Russian or English;
  7. Ten (10) photos 30x40 mm;
  8. Return ticket valid for one year.
